Glass Blowing -Bullseye Millifiore
This video demonstrates how to use clear and color rods to prepare a simple bullesye cane. Millifiore picture cane typically uses many canes stacked together to produce paterns. The bullesye cane I produced in this video will be utilized later to build a millifiore picture cane creating a flower pattern. Hope you enjoy this video, and be sure to discuss your thoughts or questions in the comments below. Also be sure to subscribe, there will be many more tutorials to come.
I recommend putting in a pic of the finished product in before and after the vid.
@bzglass
hell, yeah. i learned how to blow using a mirage… now im using a RedMad,
which was like going from rolls royce to a honda civic. i miss that center fire option. great vids though man keep them coming.
also kudos on adding in the VO, and not some cheesey ass music
@Burritoast yep thats it and the torch is a Mirage, I love that thing, Whoop Whoop!!
hahaha i have that same kilm…11/11/13 right?
and a GTT… good taste
It’s a Mirage, but I def admired your F-130 (from your video) until I was able to get mine.
I also have a small jewelers torch, but I haven’t gotten it hooked up yet. I plan on getting some quick releases to interchange the 2 hand torches.
haha we got the same gear, Phantom, F-130 and natty hand torch.

While you can get a flower pattern from some molds, it is not the only way. To achieve a much more detailed flower pattern, the best method is to stack many short pieces of cane (like a bulls eye cane) around a central cane, and fill in the remaining spaces with clear. this will result in a flower with individual petals.
This will give you more of the “Thousand flowers” effect!
@ramanglass544
A better title would have been “Bulls Eye Cane” all these techs are more or less the same. the desired effects result in picture canes.
well the flowerish effect is made by optic molds but you know what i mean
actually millefiori is only flowers , the term means a thousand flowers , has nothing to do with optic molds . ANYTHING else is murrine . yeah I almost clicked off till I read the bullseye glass comment
@bzglass is it a decent mic? if so it could be the connection to the computer (im assuming its a 3.5mm headphone jack style). Make sure that it is properly seated and does not have any play in the connection (meaning it cant be wiggled around) it does sound as though it may not be in all the way
Yeah, in retrospect, I think I should have spelled it as two words “Bulls Eye” oh well. Thanks for the kind words.
Thaks so much for the advice on the mic boost. it has helped a lot. However, I am still suffering from sound quality issues.
actually thats murrini
millefiori is when you dip it in an optic mold multiple times
5*’s
Here i was thinking it was “bullseye glass” not a bullseye lol
In the vid where applying the colors over the cane i think the term is the “heat to speed ratio” which is to say how fast you can apply a rod at a constant speed and thus making it apply evenly. (from the essential lampworking series).
and I have that exact same scale.
Audio is much better I take it you got your levels figured out. Very nice tut too
Nice vid. Keep torching!
